Most of the homes in the Sunset (and Parkside) were built in the post WWII era and tend to to feature the kitchen and living room in the front of the upstairs, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom in the rear of the upstairs, while the downstairs houses the garage and often an extra room or in-law unit. Most homes also feature a large backyard (by city standards), with lot sizes commonly ranging from 2500-3000sqft.  Updated homes are seeing the trend of putting a large bedroom suite downstairs or an additional family room that opens out to the backyard.
